Our gun
cases-made only to order, range from the very
exclusive veneered exhibition cases using specially
selected veneers such as Rosewood, Macassar Ebony,
Thuya and Walnut with solid Ebony lippings and
inlays, to our traditional Oak and leather case.
Several of the exhibition cases display the great art of Marquetry, reproducing the scene or subject engraved on the gun itself. The images shown are fine examples of the work associated with Stuart King. The Oak & Leather case has now evolved to the exclusive case we make today, which now incorporate Ebony or Walnut inserts to the corners, custom made brassware, polished and lacquered or gold plated, now include detachable hinges, sliding catches and case corners all milled from solid brass in our own workshop. The Oak now stained and lacquered to a full grain waxed silk finish
The interiors are either lined in cloth or leather. Goatskin, the traditional leather used by bookbinders is often the choice of our clients. One of its great qualities is that of it being very receptive to gold tooling. This can be seen in the interior lid panels enhanced by the gun makers ‘trade-label’ and the decorative borders of the lid and removable compartments housing the tools and accessories made by the renowned tool maker Mike Marsh. Handles made from Horn, Rosewood, Ebony, Walnut and even Mammoth tusk greatly complimented by the steel and nickel used for the blades and pots
The exterior of the cases are covered in exotic leathers such as Crocodile, Alligator and Ostrich. These are hand laid and stitched in the traditional way.
The latest addition to our range is the Prestige lightweight motor case, again covered in exotic skins with hand stitched formed corners and custom made brass hinges. These are more often lined in cloth but still with removable compartments for tools and accessories.
